Welcome Address by Credit Suisse

9:15am – 10:15am

Opening Keynote:
The Age Of Sci-Fi & Rise Of Artificial Intelligence

With Artificial Intelligence (AI) designed to extrapolate on existing knowledge and develop learnings from observed patterns at its most basic, and the perceived ability to replace humans in executing high-risk tasks at its most complex, to what extent do we draw the line between having the convenience of machines think for us and the possibility of relinquishing complete control to these change instruments? How do we balance information security with huge circuits of data stored by government agencies and corporations and where do we draw the line for our privacy? And will the use of AI across industries be the answer to reducing the socioeconomic gaps between classes, or will it instead widen them?
This opening keynote presents an insider’s view on recent technological advancements and possible high-tech innovation roadmaps in the near future. Besides covering various technological development trends that are often missed or misunderstood by the investment community, the session will also discuss the impacts on society brought about by the advent of AI.

Session One: Technology At The Service Of Humans – What Does It Mean For Investors

Technology continues to dominate as a key megatrend transforming traditional markets in almost all sectors on multiple fronts and as such remains one of the main threads in this year’s megatrends conference. In particular, the disruptive force of Artificial Intelligence is at the core of this new phase of digitalization. The progressive advancements we have made in employing smart algorithms to analyze data has enabled us to create intelligent machines and design computer programs and platforms alike, to solve complex issues previously thought impossible. Artificial intelligence will indeed be transformative to our lives and businesses. With tremendous growth potential, where then should investors focus?

Session Two: When Millennials Rule

51 per cent of the world’s population is reportedly now under the age of 30. As this demographic ascends into its prime years, their modern attitudes, unconventional experiences and unpredictable spending patterns have undoubtedly reshaped economy. Brought up in an era driven by unwavering technological advancement, Millennials are to be looked upon as savvy, adaptable all-rounders to say the least. As a truly globally interconnected generation, the increasing strong correlation between a combined sense of societal responsibility coupled with an aggregated willingness to actively support enterprises that generate both social and positive impact, cannot be ignored. Significantly impacting this generation is also the issue of rising housing costs which has sparked off significant behavioural changes such as relocating to micro apartments and communal housing.
